Ryan Crashes Out Of Ras: Ryan Whelan crashed out of the Ras na N'og Stage Race at the weekend during a brave attempt to move himself further up the prize list. Ryan was with the leading bunch of six riders when the crash occurred towards the end of the final stage.
Ryan had some minor injuries and Bike damage and was unable to continue to the finish. The young Under 12 Irish Sprint Champion was lucky to walk away from the accident, with at least one other young rider brought to hospital.
The Youth Stage Race Event was Ryans first Open Road Race event of the Season, and only his second ever (after winning on his last attempt at Road Racing in Portlaoise 2010 Click Here).
Ryan is an accomplished Track Rider with at least Eight National medals, and he hopes to transfer his Track Speed to Open Road Race events this season. |
